The School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the first six colleges enrolled in Guizhou Institute of Technology in 2013, and successfully passed the evaluation of the newly-added undergraduate degree of the Department of Education in 2017. In the same year, "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation" entered the first batch of enrollment. The following year, the college was approved by the Ministry of Education to add an undergraduate major in "Mechanical and Electronic Engineering", and currently has 844 students.
The college currently has 40 faculty members, of which: 31 are full-time teachers, 3 are laboratory teachers, 3 are teaching management, and 3 are counselors. There are 6 full-time professors, 8 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, 13 doctors, 3 Phd candidates, 12 masters, and 11 dual-teachers.
At present, it has provincial key supporting disciplines “Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation” , Provincial Professional Comprehensive Reform Pilot Project “Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation”, Provincial “First-Class University” Construction Professional Construction Project “Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation“ , Provincial first-class courses (cultivation) “Engineering Graphics“, the research direction covers Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Automation Control Technology, Industrial Robots, Sensing and Measurement and Control, Mechatronics, Materials Science and other fields.
The college has a party and government office, teaching and research department, student department (youth league general branch), mechanical basic teaching and research section, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation teaching and research section, mechatronic engineering teaching and research section, and drawing teaching and research section.
The College has established the Experimental Center of the School of Mechanical Engineering, which main task is to teach and innovate for teachers and students. The experimental center consists of a mechanical manufacturing laboratory, a mechanical foundation laboratory, an electromechanical control engineering laboratory, a material forming laboratory, a hydraulic laboratory, an engineering test laboratory, a tolerance and measurement laboratory, a CAD computer room, a vibration control laboratory, and a robot innovation laboratory. Among them, the Student Innovation Lab has multiple platforms such as robotics, institutional innovation, and small production to provide support for students' extracurricular scientific and technological activities, innovative experiments, university student innovation competitions, and graduation designs.
